On May 1, 2025 the Bishops of the United Methodist Church shared the Vision for the church setting the stage for the next phase of service to Christ through the Church:

The vision states: “The United Methodist Church forms disciples of Jesus Christ who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in local communities and worldwide connections.”

Defining who the UMC is and where the people of the Church are heading, Co-Chair of the Visioning Task Force, Louisiana Bishop Dee Williamston, states: “The vision is about seeing — what we see ourselves doing as a denomination,”
